Shad Pumping Station gets a make over

With an increase in population around London it's important that Thames Water are able to deal with the demands on water, whether it be clean water to drink, waste for treatment or dealing with storm water. As part of their on-going AMP5 works Franklyn Yates Engineering were contracted to manage and deliver a turnkey contract on the refurbishment of Shad Thames Pumping Station.

GBMJV (Galliford Try, Bi-Water now MWH Global, Mott Macdonald joint venture) are the Tier 1 contractor for  AMP5 working on behalf of Thames Water. Franklyn Yates Engineering won the contract to complete the full refurbishment of the storm pumping station at Shad Thames. FYE were able to offer the complete project managed solution to allow GBMJV to concentrate on other projects. The scope includes the refurbishment of the storm pumps, electric motors, discharge valves, sump pumps, flushing pumps and installation of modern control and instrumentation.

Michael Edwards who is managing this multi-disciplined project stated that 'the key to delivering this project successfully is down to the vertical integration of the supply chain and working collaboratively to ensure that the project is delivered on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.'
