A specialist engineering company has achieved a globally recognised industry standard that’ll enable it to expand its range of services to the rail sector.
Following a thorough audit of its manufacturing facilities in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, the Greenbank Group has been become one of just a few UK firms to be awarded EN 15085 Manufacturers of Railway Vehicles and Components Certification Level 1.
The coveted standard recognises welding as a ‘Special Process’ in the manufacture of railway vehicles and their components.
It sets down clear requirements on testing and documentation as well as processes and procedures to ensure the quality of welded components and competence of employees carrying out the work.
Ray Moorehead, Greenbank Sales and Marketing Director, commented: “We’re are committed to continuous quality improvements and this is demonstrated by our decision to work towards this coveted standard.
“We’re delighted to have achieved certification, which has only been achieved by around 20 other UK companies, and Greenbank is looking forward to expanding its operations in the dynamic rail sector.”
The certification was issued by TÜV SÜD, a Europe-wide standards body.
Alongside its extensive fabrication services, the Greenbank Group has also earned a global reputation for engineering excellence across a wide range of sectors, notably power generation, manufacturing and other heavy industries.
It manufactures a wide range of abrasion resistant products, including pipework and bulk materials handling systems and its expertise is also driving greater efficiency and reduced emissions at power stations across the world.
